Construction cost tools for India. We do not build houses and we do not sell material.
Why we made this
Lakhs of families in India build a house once in their life. Almost all of them plan the budget on a per sq ft number somebody quoted them. They have no way to check if it is right.
The tools that exist online give you one total and nothing else. You cannot check that number and you cannot use it to argue with a contractor. So we built calculators that show the material quantities too. Take that list to a supplier and you will know within a week whether the quote is fair.
Who runs it
GharCost is run by Sharik Ansari — Graduate in Architectural Engineering from Pune, Maharashtra, India. You can reach us at support@gharcost.in or through the contact page.
What we are not
We are not builders, contractors, architects or material dealers. We do not take commissions, we have no tie-up with any supplier, and nobody pays to be mentioned here.
We are also not engineers. For anything you actually build, get a structural design from a licensed engineer.
How the site makes money
The site is free and shows advertising. There are no affiliate links and no paid listings. Nothing in a calculation changes because of who advertises.
What we do differently
- You get the material list, not just a total. Cement bags, kg of steel, number of bricks. Numbers you can take to a shop.
- Every formula is printed on the page. You can check our working.
- We say what is not included. Boundary wall, borewell, approvals, levelling. These are what break budgets.
- Rates carry a date. You can see when we last checked them.
Corrections
If a rate here is wrong for your area, please tell us. We cannot visit every market in India, so local knowledge from readers is the only way these numbers stay honest.
