Privacy policy

The short version

You do not need an account to use anything here. The plot size, city and finish level you type into a calculator are never sent to our database — they travel in the page address and stay there. Close the tab and they are gone.

What we do have is ordinary web traffic data and, once advertising is switched on, the cookies our advertising partner sets.

What the calculators do with your numbers

Every calculator on this site works by putting your inputs in the page address. If you work out the cost of a 1,200 sq ft house in Jaipur, the address becomes something like ?plot=1200&city=jaipur.

That has two consequences worth knowing:

• Nothing is stored. We have no record of your plot, your budget or your city.
• A link you share carries your numbers. If you send a result to your contractor on WhatsApp, he sees exactly what you entered. That is the point, but be aware of it before sharing a budget you would rather keep private.

What our server logs

Like any website, our host records standard request information: the page requested, the time, your browser type and a truncated IP address. This is used to keep the site running and to spot abuse. It is not used to build a profile of you.

Advertising

Advertising is not currently enabled on this site. When it is, this section will name the advertising partner and explain how to opt out of personalised ads. We will not enable it silently.

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent anything about you.
• We do not run email marketing, because we do not collect email addresses.
• We do not embed social media trackers or comment widgets.
• We take no commission from any builder, supplier or bank, so nothing about you is worth selling to them.

If you write to us

Mail sent to support@gharcost.in is kept only as long as needed to answer you and to fix whatever you reported. If you send us a local rate correction we may use the figure, but we will not publish your name or your email.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you may ask what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it. In practice we hold very little — no account, no calculation history — but the request stands and we will answer it.

Children

This site is aimed at adults planning construction. We do not knowingly collect anything from children.

Changes

If this policy changes materially — particularly when advertising is switched on — we will update the date at the top of this page.
